Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC)

Information

The purpose of the WIC program is to help families create healthy nutrition habits early in life to prevent diet related illnesses in the future. WIC provides nutrition education, breastfeeding support, referrals to health care and other community resources, and healthy foods like fruits, vegetables and dairy products purchased at Idaho grocery stores throughout the state. WIC serves Idaho residents who are pregnant, post-partum and have children under 5 years of age. There are over 50 WIC clinics throughout the state operated by the seven Public Health Districts and two tribal agencies.
